It's that fantastic time of year yet again, where the crowds of journalists and fashion lovers hover over the ranges from the elite fashion designers at the NYC fall fashion show. Many have reported that one of the most distinctly amazing shows was the malan breton who flaunted his contemporary Japanese range for fall 2011.
Not any old mere fashion show, malan breton's range was an event to behold in fashion history, with the star piece being the Japanese wedding. Building up to the wedding, the beautiful range was serious, contemporary but flowing with a Japanese influence. A mixture of kimonos with formal elegance, tailored outfits and a monochrome colour array, made this range have a distinct contemporary but traditional feel to it.
malan breton never fails to 'wow' his audience, and this was no exception. Adding his distinct but ingenious style to the range, the Japanese wedding saw amazing silhouettes and curves created by luxurious flowing silks and laces, as well as feathers. It gave the range an amazing natural feminine feel, with a contemporary modern twist.
The colour palette was vibrant but dark. Several colours were key to his range this season, including glossy jewel reds, glossy whites, glossy blacks and bright jewel blues. Used often together they gave off a dramatic monochrome effect. A few unusual pieces were also shown off with pride, including bright red sequin trousers, black lacy kimono bed ware and a feather skirt.
The real piece de resistance was of course the main theme, Japanese wedding. Beautifully dressed head to foot in a vibrant red silky dress, with ribbons and two delicate straps, the main feature looked amazing. A veil and ruby red gloves complimented her waist clinching dress that has an extraordinary contemporary elegance to it.
The Breton show was a real success, bringing alive the beauty of traditional Japanese modern ware in a contemporary and modern style. It gave real insight into this fall's style of feminine beauty combined with the contemporary modern tailored style, which is to become one of the favoured and influential styles of 2011.
The New York fashion show has demonstrated that this year that many already famous designers are still creating new innovative styles that can still 'wow' an audience and remain wearable on a daily basis. More and more designers are reinventing past styles for their ranges, giving a modern but elegant twist to this decade and cultural bound style.
